A Personal Beginning
Vital Guardian Healthcare was inspired by Elyssa’s own life story.
Shortly after she was born, her father suffered a spinal cord injury that left him severely disabled for the remainder of his life. From an early age, Elyssa grew up understanding what daily care truly means — not just physically, but emotionally. She witnessed the challenges that come with long-term disability, the resilience it requires, and the deep trust families must place in those who provide support.
As she grew older, Elyssa became increasingly involved in her father’s day-to-day life — assisting with physical needs, offering emotional support, and helping advocate for his care. Caregiving was never theoretical to her. It was personal.
That foundation led her to pursue a career in nursing. Elyssa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse, later obtaining certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as well as her Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credential. Her clinical experience, combined with her lived understanding of long-term care, gives her a uniquely comprehensive perspective on what families truly need.
